Haha, I don't have earphones, so no Judge Judy for me.

I used to hem skirts until my supervisor told me it looked bad. I worked for a life insurance company and manned the front desk when agents came in to change their small bills into large ones. I was secretary to my supervisor and typed letters for her and made routine policy updates: changed beneficiaries, mostly.

I redid the manual for the job about three times so that it read just like I'd wanted it to when I started. We moved shortly after that so I didn't have a chance to receive more work. I did ask, but since I had told them I was moving, none came my way. I did take dictation for the director of the company in an emergency.

That was the only job I ever held where I actually finished my work completely before the end of the day. You might want to read, do vocabulary lessons, learn a foreign language, anything to improve your skills so they can pile even more work on you!! LOL

Whether you should ask for more to do is something you'll have to decide about based what you know about your department. If you want to get a promotion, I'd suggest you talk to your supervisor and ask to help in the department you want to be promoted into.
