Blackberry Storm: Boosting The Verizon Wireless Phones Lineup?
The 1st Blackberry came onto the scene in 1999, ushering in a new age in electronic combo devices. The Blackberry (before Blackberry Phones was originaly intended as a complicated pager. But its local messaging system was so effective that it earned a rabid cult following to the point of Webster's New World School Compendium naming "crackberry" as the "New Word of the Year". The BlackBerry Storm, RIM's latest and greatest, is going after the mighty iPhone, which appears to have a hold on being the #1 selling cellphone. The Storm's partner on this is Verizon, as it is being offered as part of Verizon Phones, who is still reeling from its mistake of turning down Steve Jobs' iPhone (Verizon as a carrier). If Verizon is trying to make amends for losing the iPhone, it's at least heading in the right direction. The Storm offers a widescreen touchscreen interface that has much of the same features as the iPhone but with some improvement for the touchscreen display. The results of these improvements are mixed. Unlike with a real keyboard, simulated keys onscreen are not able to keep up with any fast typing. Those used to the classic Blackberry "thumbing" may not be in a position to send off messages with equal speed or accuracy.
The clickthrough interface requires a good amount of practice, if you want to become used to pushing the touch sensitive screen down till there's a click, in sheer contrast to the flowing interactivity one gets from the iPhone.
Likewise, since your finger is on it, the blue highlight that displays to confirm the active status of a given button is active is hard to see.
So if it will go down in history as a design miscommunication or an all out error, will still need to be seen. Last and maybe indeed least, this Blackberry also does not feature the predictive spelling aid functions provided by the iPhone. If you are a bad speller, the Blackberry isn't going to be much of a safety net for you. The browser renders HTML quickly and thoroughly, with context-sensitive page-dragging features allowing you to move around any given webpage. The sole complaint here is that form fields are a little unpleasant to fill out. Though the browser has won high grades, the lack of Wi-Fi on telephones is rather mysterious. While Verizon's EV-DO coverage is great, there exist many circumstances under which Wi-Fi would have been very useful. As for the sturdy, commercial design, Blackberry is given the thumbs up.
The benefit to leaving the tactile keyboard and trademarked trackball behind is a faster, flatter, three.25 in. shiny glass face. Four familiar Blackberry keys lie at the base of the telephone, and they are: Telephone , Menu, Back, and End / Power. The telephone also comes included with a mini USB key as well as 3.5mm headphone mobile phone jack. One possible drawback of the design is the question of whether metal construction is superior to plastic. The phone is coupled with the even more wonderful Verizon (for cellular service coverage) that ought to keep the Storm well positioned in the race for cell phone king.
Which Bluetooth wireless cell Phone headset works best?
Also if you know, where can I get one at the best price?
My suggestion is any headset from Plantronics (www.plantronics.com).
I personally use the Plantronics Discovery 640 and enjoy the partial-in-ear fit that it provides (no need for an ear hook, but one is provided if you'd like). It also provides great incoming and outgoing sound (plus, the sound it more focused with the eargels).
Very low profile if you're wanting to be one of those people that walk around with a headset in the ear EVERYWHERE.
Some of the newer Discovery series headsets (I have heard) are kinda iffy on quality; but, that is probably just hearsay. If you see another Plantronics model that catches your eye, you should enjoy it as well.
When will wearables be wearable? (Albuquerque Journal)
A couple years ago, while out enjoying a bike ride, Walt Froloff became
increasingly annoyed that his cell phone kept slipping out of its holster.

By the time he got home he decided to fashion an accessory that would allow
him to attach his phone to his wrist. Now, he is president of a startup that
makes just that--WristOffice.
"This was born from frustration, anger and disbelief," Froloff said. "The
future can't be you holding something in your hand trying to find things."
Froloff's WristOffice was one of several wearable devices showcased Tuesday at
a MIT/Stanford Venture Lab (VLAB) event focused on the future of wearables at
Stanford University. And WristOffice was markedly low-tech compared with some
of the other items on display, which included the Allerta InPulse smart watch
that works on BlackBerry, Meta Watch that uses Bluetooth, the Android-powered
WIMM One smart watch, and Recon Mod Live, which is basically a computer
