Modern Medical Alert Systems Reviewed

Families, nowadays, are more biased towards in-home care because, for one, the costs are inherently not as prohibitive, and secondly, the patient is likely to feel more relaxed at home. This trend has also resulted in the development of life support technologies and patient monitoring systems that can be easily used outside the hospital environment.

Nowadays, life support has also come to encompass therapies which are used indefinitely to provide a better quality of life for patients with permanent medical conditions. Artificial pacemakers, for example, are life support devices that sense and correct fatal, irregular heart rhythms. Likewise, portable noninvasive ventilators have been made to provide people with obstructive or restrictive respiratory conditions with positive airway pressure even during sleep.

People, especially seniors, have taken a more proactive approach these days by relying on medical alert systems. Independent seniors can remain functional because these medical equipments can assuage their fears of not having anyone around to help them during emergencies, like falls. These alarms work by placing a call to the provider’s helpdesk or family member once activated. These items are often integrated into accessories which users can carry around the whole day. For all of these benefits, medical alert systems reviews have been generally positive.

There are several medical alert systems available and we will be reviewing two of the most popular.

Life Alert

Life Alert is one of the oldest in the industry. Also, they have several offices across the US which seniors may find particularly reassuring. In recent years, Life Alert Reviews were mixed because of their often pushy selling techniques, long-term contracts , and their services being pricier than others. Before signing up a contract go through a number of Life Alert reviews.

Philips Lifeline

Users have also put in a good word for Philips Lifeline Medical Alert Service which is another major industry player in North America. The marriage of aesthetics and innovative features that is typical of any offering from electronics giant Philips is very much evident in their range of medical alert devices and personal push buttons. One feature that is highlighted in several Philips lifeline reviews is the auto-alert function which automatically notifies the service provider or a family member if the user fails to activate the device promptly after falling. Unlike other providers, Philips doesn’t have long-term contracts, and instead gives users the flexibility of a renewable monthly service agreement.

Before you purchase a medical alert system it is best to read the provider’s terms of agreement and to compare the service’s customer support, rates, and ease of use.As these machines literally determine life and death, read up on multiple review of medical alert system and only then decide which one to buy.

i am looking for a life-alert system for my 83 yr. old mom?

i have narrowed it down to three systems. LIFE-ALERT, LIFE-LINE AND MEDICAL GUARDIAN. can anyone give me some advice ?? thanks so much !

When I was helping my Mom make that decision, we asked some of the home health agencies/visiting nurses in her area what other seniors were using and how they compared in cost and emergency responsiveness. They gave us some real good advice based on their own experience and observations of their patients. I'd suggest you try that approach because it's not just the technology that is important but how your local medical facilities respond and support it.
